Curiosity

We all know that curiosity killed the cat. Right? Presumably, some cat somewhere stuck their nose where it shouldn’t have been and got dead, thus gifting us with this axiom.

Or maybe it’s metaphorical. Maybe someone just decided a cat was the right scapegoat with which to teach us a lesson. Keep your noses clean, kids. You get to curious and you’ll end up like ol’ Mittens.

Either way, we’ve got this saying: Curiosity killed the cat. And we accept it.

But what if what’s bad for the Felis is good for the Homo?

What if, in the midst of all this overstimulated, undereducated, hyper-divided, semi-satisfying, pseudo-meaningful maelstrom of existence, it’s wonderment, it’s inquisitiveness, it’s interest that can fill us up?

What if curiosity could save the human?
